Buying a violin can get really expensive. I've seen violins cost up to (and maybe over) $800. I'm planning on renting one for about $25 a month. There is also this whole sizing thing where a full-size violin is a 4/4 violin and a half size violin is 2/4 ect. I'm getting a 4/4 which is about the size of a boston terrier (I know it's random, but it's the first thing that came to mind.) If you wanted to take a risk, you could buy a violin off eBay or craigslist, but sometimes they are not of the best condition. So also violins can come in all different colours like blue or pink and I'm thinking of getting a blue one because the prices aren't all that different.
